Who benefits most from this card?

The Amex Platinum is a card for people who travel regularly and prefer to do it in luxury, with the convenience of expedited airport security and access to lounges worldwide.

If you do pay off the balance monthly, the Amex Platinum can be rather lucrative in the first year. The card offers a 100,000-point bonus for spending $6,000 in the first six months. That’s $1,000 when redeemed for airfare with American Express Travel.

If you use the Pay Over Time feature—Amex’s equivalent of carrying a balance—you’ll pay between $17 and $24 per each month per $1,000 borrowed.
